The leaders of France and Germany have agreed on expansion of the EU into the Middle East and Northern Africa

French President Nicholas Sarkozy and his German counterpart Angela Merkel have reached an agreement on the expansion of the EU with both leaders referring to the friendship between the two countries after months of cool relations.

The two leaders have patched up their differences on France's proposed union of the Mediterranean countries with Chancelor Merkel referring to the project as the Mediterranean Union, a project of all 27 member states of th e EU.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The expansion of the EU to include additional nations around the Mediterranean Coast, nations included in the old Roman Empire, would set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

There has been opposition among EU member states led by German Chancellor Angela Merkel which had caused a breakdown in relations between the major forces in the EU, Germany and France. This disagreement has now been cleared up and Chancellor Merkel is willing to lead an effort to bring this about which would move closer to including Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt in the EU. If this Mediterranean Union does materialize and then merge with the 27 member states of the EU, there would be a political, economic, governmental and military union that geographically is the same as the old Roman Empire 2000 years ago.

The ancient Jewish prophet Daniel was given a prophecy that calls for just such a scenario, a revival of the old Roman Empire to form a union that will be led by a very powerful one world leader, Daniel 7:7-8, 23-25. The revived Roman Empire will become the strongest political union in the world and will bring to power its leader, the Antichrist who will bring peace to the Middle East, howbeit a very short-lived pseudo peace as foretold in Daniel 9:27.

The progress being made by French President Sarkozy and now assisted by Germany's Chancellor Merkel does indeed set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
