The frail Pope Benedict steps down to make way for a new Pope

Listen to Today's Program Play

For the first time in nearly 600 years, a sitting Pope has stepped down to make way for another Pope who will lead the nearly 1 billion Catholic worshipers around the world in what is termed the continuation of the leadership in the Church started soon after Jesus Christ went back to Heaven.

Pope Benedict, a man in his late eighties became more frail almost on a daily basis for the last several years of his papacy and he believed that he was not physically up to the task of being the head of the Catholic Church.

Pope Benedict was a very conservative Church leader and did cause waves among the flock and it is going to be very interesting to see the changes in the Catholic Church in the future with the new Pope.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The resignation of Pope Benedict draws attention to the papacy and what the future holds for the Catholic Church according to Bible prophecy.

With the resignation of Pope Benedict the Roman Catholic Church will face many, many changes in the future, the least of which is the new Pope. The Pope leader of the Roman Catholic Church is the shepherd of around 1 billion worshipers across the world. The Vatican, the seed of authority for the Pope, is master control center for around 17% of the entire population of the world and it touches almost every country in our world. Pope Benedict was a conservative in Catholicism and the new Pope will possibly take the Church in a new direction; however a student of Bible prophecy already knows the direction of the leadership of ecclesiastical Babylon, the church that will also be headquartered in Rome, Italy.

Revelation 17 reveals that the mother-son cult which was established 4500 years ago in Babel, Genesis 11:4, will come to power along with the revived Roman Empire in the first 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation Period. The leader of this false church and revived Roman Empire will be the Antichrist referred to as the Beast eight times in Revelation 17. As I report these events, it is amazing to me to see how quickly the prophetic scenario in God's Word relating to these activities is coming into place.

The resignation of Pope Benedict and the selection of a new Pope coupled with the efforts to revive the Roman Empire alongside the false church that will arise in the last days is indeed evidence that Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.
