Israeli Chief of Staff General Gabi Ashkenazi speaking at the Arch of  Titus in Rome, Italy said on the day of the most recent Tisha B'Av, the  ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, the day when 1940 years ago, the  Roman leader General Titus led the Roman army to destroy the Temple in  Jerusalem, General Ashkenazi said even though this was a terrible time  in Jewish history, Israel is alive today.
The Arch of Titus was  erected by the Roman emperor in 70AD and he built the Arch, still  standing in Rome today, to celebrate his son's victory over the Jewish  people and the destruction of the Temple.

The  Arch of Titus in Rome, Italy is a monument to the fulfillment of Bible  prophecy but it is also tangible evidence that yet to be fulfilled Bible  prophecy will be fulfilled.
The Chief of Staff of the IDF,  General Gabi Ashkenazi, stood on last Tisha B'Av at the Arch of Titus in  Rome and said that the Jewish people, Israel, is alive and ready to  defend itself against another tragedy like the destruction of Jerusalem  and the Temple in 70AD which the Arch commemorates and has for over 1900  years. When General Titus led the Roman army to destroy the Jewish  Temple, devastate the city of Jerusalem, and disperse the Jews to the  four corners of the earth, this Roman leader was actually fulfilling  Bible prophecy.
Some 40 years earlier in 30AD, Jesus in His  Olivet Discourse told His disciples that the Temple would be destroyed.  General Titus fulfilled the Lord's prophecy and the Arch of Titus is the  monument to the fulfillment of this prophecy. However, Jesus also said  in that very profound prophecy message that there would be signs to  alert the Jews of a time of real judgment on the Jewish people in a time  yet future and it would appear just before the judgment began.
Jesus  said there would be deception and signs, wonders, and miracles  prevalent in our world, Matthew 24:4, 5, 11, 24. Jesus also said wars  and rumors of wars would prevail, Matthew 24:6-7 and there would also be  preparations to rebuild the Jewish Temple, Matthew 24:15.
General  Ashkenazi at the Arch of Titus in Rome speaks to the fulfillment of  Bible prophecy, but also to additional Bible prophecy that will be  fulfilled in the future.
