Former Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu says that a divided Jerusalem would guarantee an Iranian presence in the holy city

Speaking at the sixth annual Jerusalem Conference in the holy city, the former Israeli Prime Minister told the delegates gathered from all over the world that if the Israeli government allows for the division of Jerusalem to appease the Palestinians then it was an absolute that there would be an Iranian presence in the holy city of Jerusalem.

Netanyahu stated that the involvement by Iran in the 23 day war in the Gaza Strip with the training of Hamas militants and the supply of weapons and munitions to Hamas was evidence that the Iranian factor must be realized in the division of Jerusalem with a portion of the city under Palestinian control.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

A divided city of Jerusalem with an Iranian presence in the city is a precursor to several prophetic scenarios for the last days that can be found in Bible prophecy.

The Palestinians have insisted from the very beginning that when they set up their Palestinian state Jerusalem, or at least some portion of it, must be the capitol of their state. Recently, the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Palestinian leaders he was sure that the Palestinians would get at least some portion of Jerusalem even including the Temple Mount, a holy sacred site to the Jewish people.

Former Prime Minster Netanyahu is right on target in his assessment of a divided Jerusalem having an Iranian element inside the Jewish capitol. In fact, Bible prophecy concludes that the city of Jerusalem even without the Iranian factor is going to be the center of controversy in the last days.

Zechariah 12:2 says that Jerusalem will be an intoxication for those who control the Temple Mount. Verse 3 says that it will be a heavy weight, a burdensome issue in the last days. Zechariah 1:14-16 talks of the Lord's aggressive possessiveness of the city and His displeasure with those who are arragantly secure controling the Temple Mount, the Palestinian people of today.

The Lord, in Zechariah 1:16, says that He will return to Jerusalem and build His temple in the holy city. Rest assured, Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.
