The State of Alabama has passed an abortion law that has the pro-choice people in an uproar

Listen to Today's Program Play

JD: The Alabama State Legislator sent the most restrictive abortion bill in the nation to the Governor’s desk and she signed it into law; talk about it.

DJ: Well as you noted Alabama’s Republican Governor a lady named Kay Ivey did sign into law the nation’s strictest abortion ban to date. It was passed by the Republican lead Senate 25 to 6 so that’s a very strong passage by the Senate.

This new law follows on the hills of a heartbeat bill that was passed in Georgia just last week. And that law prohibits abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected which is usually around 6 weeks into a pregnancy. Now Alabama’s new law makes it a felony to preform an abortion in nearly all cases. The law will go into affect in 6 months unless it’s blocked by legal challenges which it most certainly will be. It could be tied up in the courts for years.

JD: Is this a heartbeat bill or something more? Most abortion bills have exemptions for rape and incest. What exemptions are there in this Alabama bill?

DJ: First of all Alabama’s bill is more restrictive then a heartbeat bill. The current laws in effect in both Georgia and Alabama outlaw abortion after 20 weeks and that before these recent bills were introduced. Heartbeat bills generally take that time frame down to 6 weeks but Alabama’s new law would make it illegal to preform abortions at any stage in the pregnancy with only three explicit exceptions and these exceptions do not include cases of rape or incest. What they do include if the baby had some type of lethal anomaly meaning that it will definitely die or if there’s a serious health risk to the mother.

Also it’s more strict with regard to penalties for doctors who preform abortions. The Alabama bill makes it a felony punishable from 10-99 years or even life in prison for those doctors involved in preforming abortions. Even though this would in affect make abortion essentially a murder crime women seeking abortions under this law would not face that charge. It’s strictly for the abortion providers.

JD: David James with a look at the Alabama abortion law and the uproar caused by its contents.

We report this information because it is setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

Though the law of the land in America allows for most types of abortion at any time in the life of the unborn this law actually does contradict the law of God found in the Bible. Jeremiah 1:5 states that life does not begin at birth even at the time of conception. But life begins in the mind of God. Psalm 1:39 reveals that same principle. The Lord does not allow for murder, Exodus 20:13. These verses are God’s absolute word. We report, you decide.
