JD: Don there was
a minor earthquake about 3.5 on the rector scale that took place at the Dead
Sea located along the Rift Valley and this was one of those major earthquake
fault lines.
DD: It’s called
the Great Rift Valley. It’s a large fracture in the crust of the earth. And
really it begins north of Israel and stretches way down into Africa. So it’s a
major fault line in the area.
JD: Looks like
there’s a time for another earthquake to come to that region. That is a
possibility also isn’t it?
DD: Well certainly
and along with that major fault line Israel has a number of cracks in the
earth’s crust and they lead to minor earthquakes. Sooner or later as tensions
build up underground a major movement occurs and then you have a serious
earthquake.
I also read about the recent one there in the Dead Sea area
and I looked it up actually in the last year there had been 5 other minor
quakes similar to that.
JD: Do we see a
3.5 on the rector scale earthquake a precursor to a major big one in the
future possibly?
DD: Well yes, we
haven’t had a lot of success you know predicting earthquakes sooner or later
they break loose. As you mentioned there have been major earthquakes there in
the past and there will be in the future. It will happen.
JD: There’s an
earthquake fault line between the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and the Mount of
Olives. Zechariah 14:4 says that when Jesus steps down on the Mount of Olives
that earthquakes going to take place. So that fault line could be triggered at
that time could it not?
DD: Yes, there is
that fault line that goes right through the Mount of Olives and your reference
there in Zechariah 14 talks about that mountain being split almost like a
valley forming there at the Lords return. Not that God needs fault lines to
cause an earthquake. But they’re there for our inspection.
JD: Dr. Don
DeYoung with the details about the earthquakes in Israel today and into the
future.
We report this information because it is setting the stage
for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
Don’s report helps us to recognize that what Jesus warned us
of in Matthew 24:7 earthquakes in many places is actually happening today even
in Israel. The Bible tells us that earthquakes will take place in Jerusalem at
the Mount of Olives, that’s Zechariah 14:5. However, the greatest earthquakes
ever are foretold in Matthew 24 and Revelation 16. These earthquakes will
happen during the Tribulation period. This small earthquake at the Dead Sea is
only a precursor of things to come according to Bible prophecy.
