JD: President Trump said it’s about time for the United States and every other nation in the world to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Your thoughts?
DD: Well Jimmy it’s a tremendous pronouncement from the US President for sure and of course as he likes to do he Tweeted it out and said, “after 52 years it’s time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights which is a critical, strategic and security importance to the state of Israel and regional stability”. That couldn’t have been dictated by Prime Minister Netanyahu anymore fully than that statement. In other words it’s exactly what the Israeli’s wanted to hear.
In fact, Netanyahu Tweeted back “that at a time when Iran
seeks to use Syria as a platform to destroy Israel President Trump boldly
recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, thank you President
Trump”. Of course it’s just the President’s announcement. It doesn’t mean that
it is now become fully US policy it has to go through some more channels before
that. But here we have the President of the United States making this
declaration while his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was in Jerusalem visiting
the Western Wall, Pompeo a born again Christian doing that.
So this is all very
very meaningful to the Israeli’s Jimmy. It was intended that the Golan be part
of the Jewish state when all of this was being drawn up in the early part of
the last century. It’s a long story between the British and the French that had
the mandates there that they decided that no this would be part of Syria. It is
a critical strategic plateau as the President pointed out. If the United States
were to recognize that sovereignty it would be very very meaningful.

In Biblical history God allowed Joshua to give the Golan
Heights to the Jewish people that was some 3,500 years ago. It is found in
Joshua 20:8. Joshua gave the Golan Heights to the half tribe of Manasseh.
Political manipulations handed the Golan Heights to Syria some 60 years ago during
the Six Day War in 1967 and also the Yom Kippur war in 1973 Syria lost the
Golan Heights to Israel. Jews have lived in this God given land until today 52
years later. This real estate was taken in a defensive military action.
President Trump’s declaration has emphasized the security aspect of the Golan
Heights for the Jewish people.
