Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

All of the worldwide attention given to the end of the world scenario surrounding December 21, 2012 came to a disappointing climax, but at the same time it was a reminder that there will be an end of the world as we know it according to Bible prophecy.

A number of years ago, there surfaced information about the ancient Mayan civilization and their knowledge of the different ways to record time and make it applicable to calendars. The world actually became aware that the Mayan calendar would come to an end on December 21, 2012 which would be followed by the end of the world. Well, it goes without saying, that prediction did not come to pass either. However, as a student of the Bible and in particular, Bible prophecy we can know that there will be an end to this world as we know it.

The book of Revelation lays out that end of times scenario in a timeline that can be studied and compared to our world today. Revelation 1:18 is the record of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ which happened 2000 years ago. Revelation 4:1 foretells of the Rapture, when Christians will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air in the heavens, in fact that is the next event in Bible prophecy. Revelation 4:2-19:10, sixteen chapters in the book of Revelation, reveals the events of the seven year Tribulation Period. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is spoken of in Revelation 19:11 and following with the thousand year Kingdom that Jesus will setup revealed in Revelation 20:1-6.

Revelation 20:11 is the point where it talks about the end of the world when the heaven and earth have passed away. That is at least 1007 years from now before the end of the world.
