When US Marines tore down the large statue of Saddam Hussein in Baghdad, that was not the end but it was the beginning of the end

Listen to Today's Program Play

On April 9, 2003, US Marines entered the city of Baghdad, Iraq, and tore down the large statue of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and many people watching this event broadcast live globally thought it marked the end of the fighting.  However, this largely symbolic event was nearly 9 years premature.  Though this destruction of Saddam's statue is a lasting symbol of the fall of the Iraqi dictator, it in reality, marked the beginning of a decade of radical insurgency in Iraq and now with US soldiers out of Iraq, this insurgency has only intensified.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The destruction of the statue of Saddam Hussein by the Iraqis with help from US Marines, did not mark the end of the war, but instead it marked the beginning of the end for Iraq itself according to Bible prophecy.

The almost decade of fighting in Iraq between US troops and the radical Islamic element in this war torn nation was thought to have been over at the very beginning when on April 9, 2003, the Iraqi people with the help from the United States Marines toppled the statue of Saddam Hussein in Baghdad.  But it was only the beginning of the end.  The insurgency has intensified since all US troops pulled out of Iraq at the end of 2011.  This scenario will continue and become more intense as we move towards the total reconstruction of this war torn nation.

According to Bible prophecy, Iraq, Biblical Babylon, will become the economic political governmental capital of the world and the Tribulation superpower personality, the Antichrist, will control the world from Babylon (Revelation 13, 18).  Every person on earth will receive an identification mark in their forehead of the back of their hand in order to be able to buy or sell the necessities of life (Revelation 13:16-17).

The fall of Saddam Hussein did indeed mark the beginning of the end which will include Babylon, modern day Iraq, Babylon being rebuilt before it is destroyed forever (Jeremiah 50, 51, and Revelation 16:17 and following).  Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.
