JD: A swarm of earthquakes there in Southern California and there’s talk out there that this may be a preliminary to the big one. What do we know?
DD: When there’s an earthquake when the very ground shakes and shutters that certainly gets people’s attention. This latest result involves a swarm which is just many small earthquakes. These are occurring off the south end of the St. Andreas fault and they’re not doing damage. They have a low Richter scale number but they’re certainly enough to get people’s attention. This happens every so often and this swarm more than 700 small quakes have been measured the last month.
Certainly these are reminders of things to come. Of course
in the book of Revelation again in the end times we hear about the greatest
earthquakes of all time. So maybe these smaller ones are simply a reminder to
us of God’s control and kind of a wake up call. These earthquakes will come and
go with current age.
What’s happening is there are cracks there are fractures and
the lower part of the earth’s solid crust and there’s some movement there. And
tensions build up and then they’re released kind of like a snapping of a rubber
band. Then when that happens everything in the top surface responds and feels
that impact.
Jimmy there’s something even more interesting involved with
this about 60 miles away from this swarm there’s what is called the La Brea Tar Pits and along with these swarms these tar pits are becoming more active and
fresh tar is oozing out of the ground. But it shows this earth is active and it’s
turbulent and God’s controlling the whole show.

the Bible. In Revelation chapters 4-19 that portion of the scripture that
actually describes the 7 year Tribulation period earthquakes play a key role.
At the beginning of the Tribulation Revelation 6:12 it speaks of a great
earthquake. And then in Revelation 16:18 it foretells the greatest earthquake
to ever hit the earth at the end of the Tribulation period. Jesus also
mentioned in Matthew 24 the activity of earthquakes in many places around the
world as an indication of the times of the end.
