First, the demand came from the White House and then the United States State Department issued demands to Israel and the city of Jerusalem that there must be no more building in the Jewish areas in what the United States considers to be disputed areas, real estate that the Palestinians claim to be their land. Now the United States government says no building can take place in Israel's capital city of Jerusalem, a demand that Prime Minister Netanyahu said will not be obeyed and the Jerusalem mayor, Nir Barkat, said that the city of Jerusalem will not be divided - anyone of any faith can buy or build anywhere in the city of Jerusalem.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
The pressure from the Obama Administration to divide the city of Jerusalem is against Israeli government policy but more importantly, it is against God's plan for Jerusalem in the future - according to Bible prophecy.
Earlier this year, President Obama, in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, started to apply pressure on Israel to freeze all construction in the Jewish settlements and make ready to evacuate them. Now that White House pressure is focused on Jerusalem, which the Obama Administration considers at least a portion of Jerusalem, to be disputed territory and that the Jews have no right to live there. This notion is rejected by Prime Minister Netanyahu and the mayor of Jerusalem. They believe, as did Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, that Jerusalem is the undivided eternal capital of the Jewish people. In fact, that is what the Bible, God's word, also says.
According to the ancient Jewish prophet Isaiah, Jerusalem will be the place of the Jewish temple where the nations will come once day to study at the feet of the Messiah Jesus Christ and the word of the Lord will go forth from Jerusalem throughout all the world (Isaiah 2). Before that time, however, Jerusalem will be intoxicating to those who think they control it, especially the Temple Mount, and it will be a place of great controversy (Zechariah 12:2). Zechariah 1:12-16 says Jesus is very upset about that notion and He is aggressively possessive of the city of Jerusalem where He will come back one day and build His temple.
US pressure in Israel to divide the city of Jerusalem is indeed setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
