Security is very tight as millions of Iraqis go to the polls to vote in elections nationwide

Millions of Iraqis are expected to vote in regional elections in the first countrywide elections since 2005 and a full scale security clampdown is in place in Iraq with the United States military in heavy troop deployment in the streets of Iraq. These elections are being seen as a test of Iraq's improving stability and a guide to the general elections later this year when the leadership of the rebuilding war torn nation will approve its leadership or replace them.

The level of violence around Iraq is significantly lower than in past years, however, Iraqi and US military commanders have, in recent days, warned that Al Qaeda poses a threat to the elections especially in the northern city of Mosul, a oil rich community in the Kurdish region of Iraq.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

As regional elections take place in war torn Iraq the prophetic scenario for Iraq is coming better into focus as we quickly approach the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

On the very first day of the new United States administration under President Obama, the events at the White House spoke to the importance of this situation in Iraq. President Obama met with his military leaders and discussed the situation in Iraq and what to do next. America's role in rebuilding Iraq was on the agenda for that discussion as well as the regional and national elections in Iraq. These elections are part of the process to not only rebuild this Middle Eastern nation but to bring stability to Iraq in the Middle East.

This report is evidence of how Iraq is being prepared for its role in the end times scenario that can be found in Bible prophecy. Revelation 18 reveals that Iraq, Biblical Babylon, must be a prosperous, stable nation during the last three and a half years of the seven year Tribulation Period. Babylon will be the political, governmental, and economic capital of the world led by the world dictator known as the Antichrist. However, Iraq will only be rebuilt so that they can be destroyed (Isaiah 13 -14, Jeremiah 50-51, and Revelation 16:17-20).

Iraq's elections are indeed one aspect of the process to have the stage set in the Middle East for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
