Anti-war demonstrations around the world marked the third anniversary of the US-lead allied invasion of Iraq to take down the Saddam Hussein regime and give the Iraqi people back control of their country.
The former interim Iraqi prime minister, Iyad Allawi, claims that Iraq is now involved in a civil war. Allawi said the slow process of bringing together a permanent Iraqi government has only allowed the insurgents to foster a civil war among the different factions of the Iraqi people.
However, there are reports coming out of Iraq that 80% of the population believes that they are better off now with Saddam gone, even though there is continuing sectarian violence.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
The third anniversary of the allied invasion of Iraq is a time of hope for the future for the Iraqi people. However, Bible prophecy reveals that it will get better before it gets worse.
When the allied forces invaded Iraq three years ago, it seemed as if this military operation would be short-lived and the Iraqi people would be able to get on with their lives. However, an Islamic radical militant element has intensified its efforts to destroy any hope of a democratic government being put in place in what was a treacherous dictatorship under Saddam Hussein.
These last three years have seen historic events unfolding time after time. The latest of these is the election of an Iraqi parliament that will set up a permanent government to lead the Iraqi people into the future. According to Bible prophecy, the future for Iraq is at first good, and then bad.
Revelation 18, Jeremiah 50 - 51, and Isaiah 13 - 14 all indicate that Iraq will become a major player in these Last Days, and then be completely destroyed. This comes better into focus when you understand that modern-day Iraq is biblical Babylon. In the Last Days Babylon is a world power, but is destroyed in one hour, according to Revelation 18:10, 17, and 19.
Current events in Iraq today are indeed setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
