United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan says the United Nations must end the Middle East conflict

Addressing world leaders for the last time as UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan said the Arab-Israeli conflict was the most potent and emotionally charged conflict in the world today and the United Nations must bring both sides to accept and implement its resolution. Annan painted a grim picture of the unjust world economy, global disorder, and widespread contempt for human rights and he appealed for nations and peoples to truly unite.

The annual UN General Assembly, with its 192 UN member states, had on its agenda an attempt to promote Middle East peace, the curbing of Iran's nuclear ambitions, getting peace keepers into conflict racked Darfur, and the promotion of democracy - a very ambitions agenda.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The annual gathering of world leaders at the UN General Assembly and the call by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan for Middle East peace is a precursor for the end times scenario that is found in Bible prophecy.

In his last speech to world leaders as Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan set as the priority for the 192 member states of the UN, the resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Annan said that the daily frustrations of the Palestinians and the ongoing slaughter of innocent Israelis continues to inflame passions everywhere. The Secretary-General said that respect for the United Nations will decline as long as this international political body does not bring resolution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

There is a great prophetic significance to the Secretary-General's statement that the most potent and emotionally charged conflict in the world today is the Arab-Israeli conflict. Almost every ancient Jewish prophet speaks to some aspect of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Daniel and Ezekiel reveal the part that Syria, Egypt, Turkey and Iran play in the end times conflict. Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Zechariah foretell the role that Iraq will play in the last days. Malachi and Obadiah talk of the major role that the Palestinians will have in the end times.

The focus of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the speech by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan at the UN General Assembly is indeed a precursor to Bible prophecy that will be fulfilled.
