With flags waving, fireworks exploding and families having picnics, the almost five and a half million Jews in Israel are celebrating their sixtieth birthday, a modern day nation of people who have actually been a nation, although scattered around the world for over 4,000 years.
Addressing one of the many celebrations, the speaker of the Knesset, the parliament of the Jewish state, Dalia Itzik said there are nations richer than Israel, nations quieter than Israel and bigger than Israel but there is no nation in the world like the state of Israel. The threats to Israel on their sixtieth birthday are from without and within. The state is on the verge of a political crisis and yet the Jewish nation moves into their seventh decade with a hope for peace in the land of their forefathers.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
As the modern day Jewish state of Israel celebrates its sixtieth birthday, the stage is set for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
Many non-religious Jews in Israel today recognize the hand of God in the regathering of the Jewish people back into the land of their forefathers. The religious Jews believe they are in this land because of the promises of God in the Bible, promises made to His chosen people, the Jewish people. This mix of non-religious and religious Jews make up a nation in our world today that indeed is a tangible testimony to the reality of a true and mighty God who keeps His promises to His people.
Over 2,500 years ago, the ancient Jewish prophet Ezekiel was told by God that at the time of the End, He would gather His scattered people together into one place, Ezekiel 34:15-30 and Ezekiel 37:7, the bones coming together in the valley of dry bones. Ezekiel was also told in this prophecy that the Jewish people would be restored as a nation, that would be the skin covering the reconnected bones, Ezekiel 37:8. Ezekiel 36, thirty five times, speaks of the Jews in the land of their forefathers and God said He would do this, bring them back into their land, for His holy namesake, Ezekiel 36:22.
Indeed, the sixtieth birthday of modern day Israel is a tangible evidence that Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.
