The UN reports worldwide food crisis has pushed over 100 million into hunger

UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon told a UN-sponsored summit on the present worldwide food crisis held in Rome that over 100 million people around the world have been pushed into hunger, and the secretary general has urged nations to seize an historic opportunity to revitalize agriculture as a way to tackle the food crisis.

The UN chief reminded the attendees to the summit that today, food costs have reached a 30 year high in real terms which has caused riots in several countries. The UN warned the industrialized countries that unless they increased yields, eliminated barriers and moved food to where it is needed most, a global catastrophe could result.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ said there would be a worldwide food crisis just prior to His return to the Earth and present conditions indicate the stage is set for His words to be fulfilled.

The news media is increasing its coverage of a major worldwide food crisis as indicated by the rising cost of food, the decreasing supply of food stuffs for the hungry and the riots breaking out across the world over the lack of food. The UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon warned the world that something must be done and soon, before there is a global food crisis.

This food crisis facing our world today was predicted 2,000 years ago by Jesus Christ in His prophetic message that He gave on the Mount of Olives just prior to His death, resurrection and return to Heaven. In fact, when asked about signs of His return to Earth, Jesus Christ told His disciples there would be widespread famine, starvation and hunger, Matthew 24:7. In Revelation 6:5-6, the Apostle John revealed one of the first judgments in the seven year Tribulation Period which will be famine, hunger and starvation around the world.

Once again, current events, a worldwide food crisis today is setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled in a future tomorrow.
