Iran warned Israel, right after the Friday Muslim prayer, not to launch a ground offensive into the Gaza Strip as protests against Israel's military operation in Gaza and the Hamas-run territories swept across the Middle East. In Tehran, Cairo, Amman, and Damascus, Muslim protesters went to the streets to demonstrate against the military action by the Israeli Defense Force chanting, "Death to Israel, Death to America" and they burned Israeli flags as some protesters even volunteered to go to Gaza and fight the Israelis.
However, uncharacteristically, the leadership in the Arab and Muslim world have been very subdued and even the Palestinians in Ramallah are shedding no tears over the deaths of Hamas leaders.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
No major reaction from the Arab and Muslim world over the Israeli military operation in Gaza is evidence of how Bible prophecy will be played out in the last days.
There have been demonstrations in the Arab and Muslim streets in the Middle East, but no real outcry by the Arab and Muslim leaders against the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip. President Mubarak of Egypt and King Abdullah in Jordan are two Arab leaders that have chosen to stand back and see what happens before making a show of protest against Israel's destruction of the infrastructure of Hamas. Both King Abdullah and President Mubarak see problems for their countries if Hamas is allowed to continue getting stronger with no reaction from Israel. The rest of the Arab and Muslim leadership in the Middle East recognized that Hamas is getting exactly what they asked for by continuing to taunt Israel.
This scenario unfolding today is interesting especially as it relates to Bible prophecy for the last days. Daniel 11, Ezekiel 38, and Psalm 83 all indicate that the Arab and Muslim world will attack Israel early on in the seven year Tribulation Period and be totally destroyed (Ezekiel 39:1-6). The little book of Obadiah, however, reveals that the Palestinians, the modern-day descendants of Esau, will be destroyed and the end of the Tribulation when Jesus Christ returns to the Earth (Obadiah 16-18).
The subdued attatude of the Arab and Muslim world over the Israeli action in Gaza is indeed setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
