US President Obama says that a peace treaty signed 15 years ago between Israel and Jordan is a reminder that peace is also possible today despite obstacles that may seem impossible to overcome, saying that it only takes the courage of men like King Hussein of Jordan and Israeli PM Yitzhak Rabin to change the course of history.
Meanwhile, a Jordanian newspaper says in a recent public opinion poll that 80% of Jordanians consider Israel an enemy and rarely can you find a Jordanian who would say that peace between Israel and Jordan is a reality.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
On the 15th anniversary of the signing of the peace treaty between Jordan and Israel, the reality is that this peace agreement has never been normalized, which is a precursor to the scenario on this issue as found in Bible prophecy.
In October of 1994, the world watched as then President Bill Clinton brought together the King of Jordan and the PM of Israel to sign the historic peace treaty agreed to by both Israel and Jordan. I stood there that day watching the two countries sign this peace agreement and thinking of the prophetic scenario for a peace treaty in the Middle East as called for by Bible prophecy.
Daniel 9:27 reveals that there will be a peace treaty that a world leader, the Antichrist, will bring about. Watching Israel and Jordan sign this peace treaty also caused me to reflect on the two previous treaties that Israel had signed with their Middle East enemies, the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt in 1979 and the Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinians in 1993. With three peace treaties signed and yet not having real peace in the Middle East, these treaties basically have never been normalized.
Look again at Daniel 9:27. It does not say that a peace treaty will be signed, but it will be confirmed. That means treaties will be on the table not working, waiting to be confirmed and that's the situation today.
