Russia's President Praises Israel's Fight Against Terrorism As He At The Same Time Fortifies His Position In The Middle East

JD: Very interesting statement coming from Vladimir Putin who is president of Russia; he actually came out and praised Israel as an example to the world, in a fight against terrorism in our world today, very interesting.

DD: Well Jimmy, for one thing it is true. Israel is the gold standard on how to fight terrorism precisely because they’ve had to be. The suicide attacks first began against Israel, Israeli forces that is in South Lebanon when Hezbollah was first founded in '82 and '83. It’s been continuing ever since then and Israel of course has fought it all over the world, and Israel has a lot of experience and I think Vladimir Putin is just recognizing that.

But Jimmy, also again, he wants to be the number one leader in the world maybe but certainly in the Middle East. He’s now claiming to be fixing the Syrian problem, and in fact, with the addition of Russian forces to the fight there; the Syrian regime is once again wining the fight. The Israelis are watching all that, they see that and they see Vladimir Putin as a very powerful man and somebody that is very ambitious, somebody you don’t want to cross.

They’re extremely concerned about these new anti aircraft missles that the Russians have announced they’re going to be bringing into Syria, they’re setting them up next to their ports, all of those are within range of Israeli aircraft flying, even in Northern Israel, not just over the skies of Lebanon or Syria. There’s well over a million Russian speaking Jews living in Israel, and many of those frankly would vote for Vladimir Putin if he were running in their country. They like the fact that he’s a strong man, and he gets things done, and his will seems to be prevailing, he does recognize their experience. And of course Russia is going to be facing probably more and more Sunni terrorism directed against it since it’s siding very clearly with the Shiite Muslim forces in the Middle East, in Iran, in Lebanon, and in Syria.
