JD: David could you briefly explain what prayer mapping is and why this is an important issue that we need to discuss?
DJ: Well it is an important issue really kind of began in the 1980s with C Peter Wagner and John Wimber and they basically launched what they called the third wave of the movement of the Holy Spirit. Of course you and I would both agree that we need to pray for individuals, we need to pray for nations, we need to pray for our leaders but this goes beyond that. And what is really behind this is the idea that there is demonic influence in these areas and it actually gets into some areas that departs from the Biblical pattern and it really gets into some what I would say some dangerous areas for the believer to attempt to deal directly with demons and the demonic realm.
JD: Again the bottom line has to be as always to have a Biblical understanding of how we are actually to deal with attacks there in the spiritual realm.
DJ: That’s exactly right and I would say that there are several passages we could refer to in the New Testament to think about this. One is in I Corinthians 6:19 where Paul says do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you whom you have from God. And I John 4:4, John says you are of God little children and have overcome them because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. So I don’t believe that we can be in dwelt by the Holy Spirit and also be possessed by a demon and we are actually commanded to not directly confront demons. That was an apostolic gift that was given at the time that Jesus and the Apostles lived.

days. But David James also brought to our attention how Christians should deal
with demonic activities in the end times. Jesus Christ gave us the warning of
the end times in Matthew chapter 24. He said in the Olivet Discourse deception would
be a major sign of his second coming, that’s Matthew 24:4, 5, 11, 24. Demons
played a key role in the first coming of Jesus Christ and will be major players
in the second coming as well. As we approach the rapture we will see an
increase in demonic activity.
