The Iraqi Parliament held its inaugural meeting against a backdrop of increasing predictions of civil war

The new Iraqi parliament held its inaugural session three months after the country's first general elections while sectarian violence and predictions of civil war increase.

The opening session of the Iraqi parliament had been postponed after disagreement over who should actually fill the top political jobs. With the unresolved differences between the parties, this obstacle delayed the formation of a new Iraqi government. The continuing deadlock over the Shiite nominee for the key position of Prime Minister stands in the way of forming a national unity government, which all believe is the only hope of saving the country's civil strife and fragmentation that is a clear and present danger.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

As the Iraqi parliament met for its inaugural session in an effort to form its new government, there is a reminder of the prophetic significance of Iraq in the End Times scenario that can be found in Bible prophecy. Three months after the historic national elections held in the war torn nation of Iraq, the newly elected parliament held their meeting on the ongoing process to form a government to lead the country into the future.

This equally historic inaugural session of the Iraqi parliament faced the ever increasing pressure to come together to form a strong government to bring an end to the sectarian violence that is tearing the country apart and moving this Middle Eastern nation ever so close to an all-out civil war. It is this backdrop that has political pundents suggesting that a new Iraqi strongman must surface to lead the nation into unity. This scenario, the formation of a new Iraqi government and the emergence of a strong leader at the helm of this government is seemingly a page out of Bible prophecy for the End Times.

Iraq, biblical Babylon, will actually be the center of a worldwide political, economic, governmental power in the future; that's found in Revelation 18. And there will be a strong leader to head up this political world power, he will be known as the AntiChrist as revealed in Revelation 13:12-18 and Daniel 7.

With the formation of a new Iraqi government at hand, the stage is indeed set for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
