The most recent asteroid hurdling through space came within a hair's breathe of crashing into the earth

US scientists say the most recent asteroid traveling through space came within a hair's breathe, an astronomical term at least, of crashing into the earth; however, these scientists were able to reassure the public that there was never any great risk.

These scientists said that the earth and this asteroid, termed asteroid 2004XP-14, had a distance which was slightly greater than the distance between the earth and the moon, a close shave in the vastness of outer space.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The recent fly by of the earth by a mountain-sized asteroid is a precursor to the events during the future days of judgment, that is according to Bible prophecy. Scientists have classified the mountain-sized asteroid that whizzed past the earth as a potential hazardous asteroid and at first they believed it would hit the earth some time later this century.

The so-called near miss of the earth gave astronomers an opportunity to catch a close glimpse of this rather large asteroid, a space rock that was first discovered back in 2004. The asteroid, known as 2004XP-14, was discovered by the Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research Project, an organization that surveys the skies for potentially dangerous asteroids. Though this asteroid missed the earth, there will be other space objects that will hit the earth during the seven year Tribulation Period, a yet future time of judgment.

John the Apostle, the author of the New Testament prophetic book the Revelation, wrote in chapter eight, verse eight of Revelation that a great mountain burning like a fire will hit the oceans of our world. In Revelation 8:10, another space object will fall upon the fresh waters of the earth as well. Revelation 16:21 speaks of additional space items falling upon the earth during the coming period of judgment.

This near miss of the earth by a mountain-sized asteroid is only evidence of things yet to come. Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.
