UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is pressuring the EU to participate in the fragile ceasefire in Lebanon

The United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is working to persuade European nations to contribute troops to the UN's expanded peace keeping force for Lebanon.

Most of the European Union's (EU) 25 member nations have been reluctant to take part in the expanded UN force known as UNIFIL, because of uncertainty about the force of the mandate and the rules of engagement. The UN has appealed for European troops to balance pledges from several Muslim countries, nations who do not even recognize Israel's right to be a state in the Middle East, and so that the force will be broadly acceptable to both the Israelis and the Lebanese.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The needed and sought after participation of the EU in a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is a scenario that can be found in Bible prophecy for the Last Days.

With the fragile UN initiated ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in place, the UN has its work cut out for them as they endeavor to put together the 15,000 troops needed to fill the peacekeeping force called for by the UN Security Council. Of great concern to the Israelis is the number of Muslim nations ready to send troops to Lebanon. The concern is that these nations don't recognize Israel's right to be a Middle Eastern state.

An international political leader known as the Antichrist will come to power and rule over the revived Roman Empire in the Last Days, that's found in Daniel 7:7-8 and also verses 23-24. This international political leader will bring peace, howbeit a short-lived peace, between Israel and its enemies, that's Daniel 9:27.

As the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, an international political leader, is working with the EU, a political infrastructure for the revived Roman Empire, the stage is being set for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
