Jordanians celebrated the selection of the unique city of Petra as one of the seven wonders of the world with fireworks in Amman, the capital city and dancing into the early morning hours in the ancient city of the Edomites and the Nabataeans.
Petra came in second behind the Great Wall of China in a massive global on-line poll and telephone campaign in which more than one hundred million people chose the top seven wonders of the world.
Jordanian's believe that this will really put Petra on the map of choice tourist destinations, a location that most recently was popularized by the movie, "Indiana Jones, And the Last Crusade".

The notoriety recently received by the unique rose red city of Petra in southern Jordan will enhance the awareness of this location that will play a key role in end time's Bible prophecy.
One Jordanian said that Petra was known by some people in the past but now it will be known by all who know the seven wonders of the world. Recently chosen as one of the elite locations in our world, Petra has a long history dating back some four thousand years ago to the times of Esau and his family who traveled from Israel to Petra to set up its nation. This impregnable city will serve as the place prepared by God, talked about in Revelation 12:6, that will protect the Jewish people or at least one-third of them during the coming time of terrible judgment in the seven year long Tribulation Period.
Isaiah 63:1-6 reveals that Petra is that location where Jesus will go and gather those protected Jews and take them to Jerusalem with Him. Petra is that place prepared by God and now as one of the seven wonders of the world it is indeed prepared to play its role in Bible prophecy that will be fulfilled.
